St David's
The Welsh equivalent of the Anglo Saxon Chronicles, known as the Annales Cambriae, were compiled
at St David's. These annals were written between the late 8th and the 13th centuries. They earlier
information which was obtained from a variety of sources.
In 999 the Norse raided St David's and killed bishop Morgeneu.
The main site of St David's is nestled in hills and is thus not visible from the sea. It is
thought that this saved the city on some occasions, but it was still raided 11 times between 967
and 1091.
